Investigations Training

The Q Workplace Solutions team consists of lawyers with extensive employment law experience who practice exclusively in workplace investigations.

The Q Workplace Solutions training package is practical and effective and will provide participants with all the tools they need to conduct thorough and fair workplace investigations within your organisation.

Our interactive one day workshops are designed and delivered by legal experts and will train participants on all stages of a workplace investigation, from initial consideration and setting up the investigation, to gathering evidence and interviewing, to analysing evidence and making findings.

Your team will be kept engaged during the workshop through the use of real case studies and the opportunity to practice the essential steps of a workplace investigation in an interactive training environment.

Our workshops cover the key areas that are essential for the conduct of a thorough and fair workplace investigation:

• Why conduct an investigation?
• Investigation fundamentals – timing, choice of investigator, procedural fairness, types and sources of evidence, standard of proof and legal professional privilege
• Terms of reference
• Planning an investigation
• The investigation process
• Techniques of investigative interviewing
• Assessing evidence and making findings
• Dealing with challenging situations in an investigation. For example, dealing with a witness who refuses to participate or is unwell, how to ask difficult or sensitive questions, and dealing with disruptive support persons
• Preparing investigation reports

As well as providing sample investigation materials that can be used in your organisation’s workplace investigations (e.g. interview protocols, correspondence for witnesses, respondents and complainants, template reports), participants will learn the tips and tricks of the experts, and be provided with examples of the common pitfalls to avoid.

Our training will arm your team with the confidence to tackle complex issues that can arise in an investigation.
